ConceiveAbilities Egg Donors Must Meet Stringent Criteria*
To be considered as an egg donor through ConceiveAbilities,
a woman must be, at a minimum:
- 21 to 30 years old
- Physically healthy
- Be a non-smoker
- Be a non-drug user
- Psychologically healthy
- Dependable, mature, and able to keep appointments
- Willing to be psychologically and physically evaluated by professionals
selected by ConceiveAbilities
And have:
- No reported history of substance abuse
- No reported history of infertility
- Not experienced multiple miscarriages
- A history of pregnancy (preferable)
Screening and Evaluation Takes Place in Four Stages
1. Fill out
a questionnaire. Then, if you are selected as a prospective donor,
you will be invited for an interview with a ConceiveAbilities
staff member who will review the application with you, answer
your questions and discuss the donation process in detail.
2. Have a consult with a mental health professional to discuss the psychological aspects of
being an egg donor and who may administer psychological testing.
3. Meet with
a physician who will discuss the medical aspects of egg donation
with you, perform a physical exam, and draw your blood for testing.
The physician will very likely prescribe a monthly birth control
pill at this time.
4. Receive
legal representation by an attorney familiar with collaborative
reproduction arrangements.
This entire
screening and evaluation process typically takes place over an eight
to ten week period, depending on how quickly you are matched up
with a recipient couple. You should be willing
to remain an available candidate until a match is made. This may
take anywhere from one week to several months once you are placed into our database.
