National Infertility Awareness Week kicks of this Sunday, April 22nd. While we’re reminded of the prominence of this sensitive issue on a daily basis, it’s a good time for those of us in the industry to reflect on changes and new hurdles, while also celebrating triumphs. This year’s theme is “Don’t Ignore Infertility,” and here at ConceiveAbilities, we will presenting a series of various topics here on the blog and look forward to an open discussion about some of the issues that are closest to us right now. We encourage you to check in daily on the blog as well as our Facebook and Twitter pages to join the conversation.
But there are many other ways to get involved. Resolve.org is calling upon everyone in the infertility community to show that we won’t ignore infertility. We need to rally together to educate the millions of people who misunderstand and underestimate the heartache of infertility - friends, family, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and, of course, the government. Write or call your local and state representatives to let them know this is an issue that demands attention. Make a donation to advocacy groups or the Walk of Hope. Even simple actions like blogging, “tweeting,” or sharing on Facebook get the word out to thousands who might otherwise remain in the dark about infertility.
Learn more about NIAW 2012 and the ways you can contribute by visiting Resolve’s National Infertility Awareness Week site, and be sure to join the conversation with us next week. We look forward to working with each one of you to make our voices heard.
